Northland Power and Orlen said on 7 October 2026 that installation of all 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines is complete at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea, marking the end of the turbine installation campaign at Poland’s first offshore wind project.
Baltic Power sits roughly 23 kilometres off the coast near Choczewo and Łeba, in a joint venture between Poland’s Orlen Group, which holds the majority stake, and Canada’s Northland Power. Onshore construction began in early 2024, with offshore installation work starting in January 2025. Cadeler’s jack-up vessel Wind Osprey installed the first of the 76 Vestas turbines at the site in July 2025. The project delivered first power to Poland’s national grid in July 2026.
What’s new is the completion of all 76 turbine installations, using Cadeler’s two jack-up vessels. More than one-third of the turbines are already generating electricity as the project moves through commissioning, with commercial operations targeted for 2026 and overall costs reported in line with initial expectations, Northland Power said. Each V236-15 MW turbine stands more than 260 metres tall with a swept area exceeding 43,700 square metres, among the largest machines deployed at sea.
The project matters as a first for Poland’s power sector. Northland Power’s own project page lists Baltic Power’s capacity at 1,140 MW, while Orlen and the developer have also described a licensed capacity of up to 1.2 GW depending on configuration. The farm is backed by a 25-year contract-for-difference and is expected to produce about 4 terawatt-hours of power annually, or roughly 3% of Poland’s current electricity demand, enough to supply more than 1.5 million households. That would make it a meaningful addition to a national grid still dominated by coal and gas generation.

What to watch
The next markers are full commissioning and the start of commercial operations, both targeted for later in 2026, plus Poland’s planned Phase II auction, where Orlen’s Baltic East project is among those being prepared.
